Panoramic 34 Review

Elegant Lunch with a View in the Heart of Liverpool

When it comes to posh restaurants with incredible views in the UK, people often tend to assume they can only be found in London. Of course, the capital is indeed filled with restaurants that offer great views of the London skyline and incredible food whipped up by highly skilled chefs.

Having visited London many times in my capacity as a travel writer and reviewer, I have enjoyed the chance to dine at and review many of these restaurants with the LSQ Rooftop in Leicester Square being one of the top ones for views and ambience. What I did not expect was to find an equally as impressive – if not more impressive – option in the heart of Liverpool.

On a recent visit to Liverpool, I visited a unique restaurant called Panoramic 34, which is in the heart of the city. Upon entering the towering building, you can expect a warm welcome from reception before taking the lift to the 34th floor. When you exit the lift, there is an equally warm welcome that awaits along with friendly attendants who are only too happy to take your coats (and even a bag of shopping) to store while you enjoy the restaurant.

The view from Panoramic 34

The restaurant itself is so elegant and stunning in terms of design, décor, and overall appearance. We were lucky enough to get a table right by the window with views over to the Irish Sea, which was a real treat. While looking out over the city skyline at London’s LSQ Rooftop was exciting, this experience at Panoramic 34 was relaxing and calming with views that were absolutely stunning.

Our visit to the restaurant was for afternoon tea, and despite the incredible views and fabulous ambience, the service did fall a little short that day. However, I am not one to give up that easily on such a stunning venue, and after a kind invitation from management, I asked a representative to visit Panoramic 34 again for lunch at a time that was less busy and a day when they were not struggling with staffing.

The experience this time was incredible. She agreed that the views, the décor, and the atmosphere were fabulous, unique, and unforgettable. In addition, she enjoyed incredible service from the waiter and all other staff members she encountered that afternoon and even described her experience as a ‘bucket list’ one.

Moreover, as she and her guest left the restaurant, another couple who had just had lunch there told them that they had the most incredible once in a lifetime experience at the restaurant. They had been waiting for months to enjoy their lunch experience, and they were thrilled with everything from the food and service to the décor and atmosphere.

Below is a review of her experience written in her own words:

When we visited Panoramic 34, it was not only the views of the Liverpool skyline that were stunning-just as incredible was the superb interior of the restaurant, amazing customer service, superb quality of food, and excellent attention to detail.

The dining area was amazing.  Beautifully presented tables adorned the perimeter of the room providing an extensive opportunity for diners to benefit from the floor-to-ceiling window views.  The tables were perfectly set with white linen and crockery which were offset by the shine of the beautiful silver cutlery.

We were amazed by the breathtaking views.  As one of Britain’s tallest restaurants, guests can take in captivating views of the city, river, Welsh hills and even the sea.  We had a feeling of being removed from the whirlwind of life and being transformed into a magic bubble of serenity and peace.

As soon as we were settled the friendly and smiling waiter came over and immediately engaged in polite conversation welcoming us and telling us a little about the restaurant.  He was clearly proud of where he worked and passionate about the job that he did.

The waiter provided us with a drinks menu which offered an extensive range of wine and speciality cocktails.  He returned a few minutes later and took our orders.

Our only real criticism of the whole experience was the fact that there was only one vegetarian main option which, if we did not enjoy eating broccoli, would have been a disaster.  That said, the waiter carefully explained that all products were fresh and allowed us to select additional sides.

The food was beautifully presented, and the waiter explained in detail the contents of our food and how it was cooked.  He was very knowledgeable about the food we were having and explained that it was all about combinations and textures.  Both starters were mouth watering delicious, cooked to perfection, and beautifully seasoned.

We were told initially that our table would need to be vacated after 2.5 hours but in fact, there was no rush. Clearly set up to provide a magical dining experience, this restaurant is a must if you are visiting Liverpool.  We found the whole experience to be unique and amazing.  A delightful venue, with incredible views, professional and friendly service, and exceptionally tasty cuisine.

A Bucket List Experience

So, it seems that a trip to Panoramic 34 in Liverpool is definitely one for the bucket list. Like experiences such as afternoon tea at The Ritz or lunch at The Savoy, it might not be something you can do all that often. However, if you are planning a trip to Liverpool, this should definitely be on your itinerary.
