Cotswold International Film Festival
The film industry, to be blunt, is hanging by a thread especially with the announcement by the PM on 22nd February that cinema’s won’t be allowed to reopen until at least May - at the earliest! However, with FilmBath going ahead back in December, the news that Netflix will be releasing a new film every week in 2021 and the creation of Cotswold International Film Festival having been announced at the start of 2021, things aren’t as bleak as we may think it is.
The Cotswold International Film Festival is the newest film festival from Kayleigh-Paige Rees and George Perry which began on New Year’s Eve – starting 2021 with a bang! It offers the chance for independent filmmakers around the world to showcase their work and earn recognition across several short film genres.
(Kayleigh-Paige Rees and George Perry also run Raspberry Films, a film and television production company, which will be producing Faulty Roots, Ella Greenwood’s feature length film who we spoke to late last year!)
Any short film of any genre can be submitted with timings ranging from 5 to 45 minutes long. The festival has a short submission and review period; submissions are open now and the festival will run every two months, providing a consistent platform for short films all around the world.
Due to COVID-19, the events are held online however, there is hope that later in the year, events will be able to resume in person and at real venues.
Selected winners from each submission period will have the opportunity to be promoted on their social channels and website along with receiving the official laurel of the Cotswold International Film Festival for their own use in promoting your film. As well as this, the festival will be holding screenings of winners films every 6 months and numerous other events throughout the year.
The aim of the festival is to allow creative opportunities for new filmmakers, Kayleigh Paige-Rees told us that she’s ‘beyond thrilled to have been a part of creating this film festival and hopefully giving independent filmmakers the opportunity to exceed and get their creations the recognition they deserve.’
