Ellie Amos
Ellie is a Photographer, Video Editor and Content Creator. She is also a graduate in BA Hons Photography at the University of the West of England (Class of 2019).
Ellie tends to focus her personal photography work on areas relating to the video-gaming community, digital online worlds and virtual reality/technology. She looks at the recurring theme of how the virtual world and the real world are blurring together into our identities. She also works with various art exhibitions, anime/gaming conventions and zine fairs.
Sometimes Ellie goes by her online alias known as "Ellietendo". This alias is used for her content creation work involving the video-gaming communities that she participates in. Sometimes she is credited for the online photography relating to video-gaming with her online alias name.
Ellie’s Project - ‘Press A’
As the interest in E-sports, online gaming and dedicated streaming services are growing, the realm of the gamer has never been more creative or profitable but still it is a territory that is misunderstood.
In this project, I have documented the diverse world of online gamers. Being renowned myself for skills and profile on the Mario Kart scene, I understand this world; I belong, I'm an insider. ‘Press A’ gives us a glimpse of the competitive nature of some of the events yet I counterpoint this also with my images of a close community that is inclusive and supportive.
The publication that I have produced looks at the people who inhabit this domain through the tournaments held in the UK and USA. We get to see them converse, compete and congregate at events that are taken very seriously and that can command large prize funds and more than this, the respect and reputation of the community.
