All Is Sun Creations - Alison Kjellstrom
This new creative journey began shortly after being made redundant and giving birth to my first and only child. After offering a creative therapeutic space to disadvantaged children and young people, I decided I needed time to be creative myself again.
During my student years I had made mainly Native American inspired creations to generate an income, but more importantly as a way of celebrating and holding on to where I had grown up. I wanted to celebrate my hometown’s rich pre-colonisation culture and spiritual path which continues somehow to survive despite adversity in modern times. This fascination and a play on my name led me, in the early 80’s, to come up with the name All Is Sun - only later did I add on Creations.
The beauty, colours and magic of nature, along with ancient cultures and myth, were my inspirations. I wanted to create, with love and care, objects that inspired and uplifted our Mother Earth - and importantly, I wanted to do so without harming what I so wanted to capture and celebrate. Finding these sorts of creations was difficult and so I began to make my own, hence the upcycling, eco-friendly, zero waste philosophy behind my business. All of my creations have an upcycling element to them; I often use objects I have found, as well as scraps from businesses and second hand materials from charity shops. All of my pieces are unique and handmade and I never use harmful substances or glue guns.
My previous vocation as a qualified and registered art therapist means I am an experienced workshop leader too! As I have insurance and have been recently DBS checked I am able to offer public creative workshops to children and adults, as well as private creative workshops for children or adults at special events such as birthday parties, baby showers, hen nights, staff wellbeing days etc. I love challenging myself by learning new skills and sharing these with others, whilst encouraging them to find and express their own unique creative spirit in an earthly friendly manner.
