Crawl
This is the work of a mad man,
A sad man,
A "born to be bad" man,
Walks the fine line
Between a sinner and a saint,
Like Hell with gilded wings he came,
But I, I see straight through
And I am stronger than you
This is the work of a tired man,
A high man,
A "read between the lines" man,
Coated in leather, coldest blue eyes
I count every one of your fucking lies
Like a cancer, he spreads inside
Steals you away from your own mind
He will smile as you lose the will to feel
As you've grown weak from his disease,
But I, I see straight through
And I am stronger than you
This is a song I wrote about a relationship I was in. Emotionally, mentally and sometimes physically abusive. I lost three years of my life to this man. It is taking time to recover, a long time, but I do feel that I am finally making progress. Abusive relationships are so incredibly violating and traumatic, but what is worse is just how common they are. More needs to be done as the damage done is so severe. Maybe when I'm ready I can write about more positive things, however I've always been one to take the uglier things and try to make something good out of it. Hopefully, anyway.
