Talking To: Wavezd

Bristol-based Wavezd has gone from strength to strength over the last year, keeping the pace going with his weekly spot on Vandelay Radio and appearing at clubs and bars all over the city. The Lakota resident makes the dancers move with his blend of sounds from classic disco palletes to wide and vibey techno, the house producer continues to add to his repertoire, having played on Noods Radio & 1020 Radio within the last 8 months, he continues to keep the party going.

How would you describe the music that you DJ and Produce?

I have always found music an incredibly powerful and emotive tool, ever since I can remember really, and this has been really important for me both in the music I DJ and produce. I love to bring joy to others, and have a fairly eclectic taste so I would call my 'sound' a delicate blend of disco, house and techno. But that hardly scratches the surface. I am influenced all the time, from some of the synonymous sounds that have helped create some of the genres we all know and love, as well as some more modern contemporary. The music I produce is intended for parties and clubs, something to make people move their hips and hug their mates in the early hours.

What are some of your favourite nights or venues in Bristol?

As a Lakota Resident, I can't not say Lakota. It really is an amazing venue with so much history, I am really proud to be affiliated with a club so rooted in Bristol's music scene. I also love Motion, Loco Klub and The Island. There are SO many great parties being held basically every weekend in this city, but the French Kiss, Utopia and Emergency Room crews seem to be throwing some really great events recently.

What was a highlight of 2019 for you?

Playing at Lakota on NYE was pretty special, the crowd were in a great mood and didn't stop dancing throughout the entirety of my set. Aside from that, it was great to get some more of my own original music out last year and play at as many events as I did. I am super grateful and appreciative to any promoters I have worked and continue to work with.

What can we expect from you in 2020?

This seems like the perfect time to nod to my debut EP, which will be dropping in the next few months, I am really excited with how it's coming along and can't wait to share it with the world. I am also playing at a load of exciting events, some i'm yet to announce to keep up with my socials for that, but I am incredibly excited to be supporting a personal favourite of mine FJAAK this February at Lakota.
