Review: The Redroom - “The Fear”

The band’s eagerly anticipated return to the UK music scene is unveiled and it's a sensational opener…
Coming off the heels of announcing their first UK Tour with some of their biggest headline shows to date, The Redroom have released their brand-new single “The Fear”. This is the first single from the upcoming debut EP, ‘Liminal Space’, recorded in Liverpool’s iconic Motor Museum Studios.
With production from Ben Harper (The Zutons/ The Sherlocks/ Stevie Wonder) including a modern twist on 70’s & 80’s disco, and production techniques similar to The 1975, you can tell this is an extra-ordinary leap forward for this young band who formed in late 2019.
“The Fear” has a fresh and carefree sound with socially-apt lyrics about the 21st century female’s experience, written by lead singer Jess Lewis-Ward, who wrote the song after a particularly heavy night out and the inevitable ‘beer fear’.
The blend of retro vibes and modern production makes it a feel-good track, instantly grabbing your attention with infectious melody. From the first foot tapping beat, The Redroom’s “The Fear” pulses with musical synergy, enhanced by strong vocals throughout the track. It is sure to get you moving. It is easy to see “The Fear” becoming the get-ready anthem for ‘nights on the town’.
The Redroom have previously shared the stage with industry icons Madness, The Stereophonics, The Killers, & The Kooks and, with new music the likes of “The Fear”, they are definitely ones-to-watch for 2025.
You can catch The Redroom on their ‘Liminal Space’ UK Tour beginning on 24th April in London and finishing 27th April in Leeds, reprising at Hardwick Festival on 17th of August.
I look forward to hearing more from this band in the coming months.
